Former beauty queen Mary Christine Balagtas shot dead after receiving flowers and chocolates from gunmen

A 23-year old girl and a former title holder of a beauty pageant was shot dead on Wednesday, April 5. The girl was killed by the two men who delivered a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates to her house in Plaridel town.

 

The victim was identified as Mary Christine Balagtas, a former title holder of the Lakambini ng Bulacan in 2009. According to Plaridel chief of police Supt. Julio Lizardo, Balagtas got shot on her head as she received the flowers from the two gunmen and that the crime took place around 9:10 a.m. in 1st La Mirada Subdivision, Barangay Banga.

Balagtas was rushed to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Pulilan town, but was declared dead upon her arrival.

Lizardo, stated that the two gunmen fled using a motorcycle, but the police have found leads that may help identify them.
