One of the most common form of transportation in the Philippines is the tricycle. Especially if the place you would go to can no longer be penetrated by four-wheeled vehicles. It is also convenient as there are many tricycles that are for hire just about anywhere.
However, riding a tricycle may not be as safe as it used to be especially that more and more people are engaging in various crimes. Just like this story shared by a Facebook user named Jocel Eugenio.
In her post, Jocel shares that she usually rides a tricycle on her way home from school. Given that the traffic in their place is really heavy especially during peak hours, Jocel was no longer surprised when the vehicle she was riding in was also stuck in traffic.
Out of the blue, someone tried to steal her sling bag but failed to do so. As the tricycle is not moving due to the traffic, the robber tried to pull Jocel’s arm and drag her out of the tricycle.
The robber opened Jocel’s bag and snatched her phone and ran away. Bystanders around the area tried to chase to robber but they failed as the culprit went straight into a narrow street.
People also tried to console Jocel as she was left with bruises after her encounter with the robber. She insisted that going home is her best choice as she can be safer when she gets home.
At home, she tried calling her phone number and someone answered saying that the phone was sold to him for only PHP 3,000. When Jocel tried to call again, the phone was already unattended.
According to her, she posted her experience so that people may be aware of the dangers too and take extra precaution especially when travelling.
