Hairy insect making rounds on social media

Insects can be found just about anywhere, even in the most secluded part of our homes. They could penetrate into discarded areas because of their small size. Their appearance are often creepy that is why some fear even just the sight of an insect.

As reported by Daily Pedia, a certain Facebook user named Gadik posted a video of a seemingly unusual and never before seen type of insect. It looks like a caterpillar, but it has long and hairy legs.

The post caused confusion and discomfort towards those who have seen it. Sure enough, just the sight of this creepy insect can freak the hell out of anyone. Just try to imagine this creature crawling down your skin.

Netizens expressed their opinion regarding the video. Some find the insect really creepy, some speculated about what the insect really was and there are also others who compared the insect to a cockroach.

Later, it was found out that the insect is called Creatonotos gangis, a specie of arctiine moth which can be mostly found in South East Asia and Australia.

Creatonotos gangis belong to the family of butterflies. Adult Creatonotos gangis have white hindwings and brown forewings, each with a dark streak, and a wingspan of 40 millimetres (1.6 in). The abdomen is red or yellow. Their eggs are yellow and round, and are laid in rows on the leaves of food plants.
