Building something out of an unused material seems to be a trend nowadays. People are beginning to be more innovative and think out of the box so that they can make better use of materials than just abandoning or throwing it away.

This story is just another example of the current trend.

A guy decided to make something out of two shipping containers and a plot of land. Although the project took 2 years to complete, it sure is an amazing sight upon completion.

It all started with this piece of land.

A water inlet is also present near the kitchen sink and it will be be operated by a hand pump.

He chained the containers temporarily.

He also drew a plan of how the house will look like.

He used a marker tied to a wire which was bolted to the floor. This will give him a perfect arch that will be cut out to join the containers in one room.

He then drilled in the center so he could achieve the exact same cut on both sides.

He cut the walls using a grinder.

The second wall was also cut open to reveal the space between two containers.

Next is the time to weld the containers together.

He welded carefully to seal the containers together.

The interior wall piece is the one he used as an awning over the front door.

This isn’t easy, especially that the piece was very heavy.

He had to use his tractor to lift the giant piece of metal.

Now is the time for insulation. This is for the interior of the house to stay comfortable as well as protection to the metal shipping containers. This process took about 3 hours to complete.

He added a little paint and marked out where the doors and windows will be placed.

The front door was then cut out.

After the exterior, he worked on the interior of the house.

A washer and dryer, a fireplace was installed.

He then made a solar heater out of cans he collected.

He also built a frame for solar panels that will provide electricity to the house.
