Christmas is love. Love that is shown through giving and sharing the blessings we receive all throughout the year no matter how big or small it may be. As they say, it is better to give as the one who gives will be more blessed than the one who receives.
However, it is a sad truth that not all people can afford to buy something and give it as a gift for their relatives or children. This is the case of a certain coconut vendor who was captured by a netizen and his story was shared online.
In the post shared by a Facebook user named Mayette Dela Cruz Cinco, she narrated a heartbreaking story of a man she stumbled upon one fine day.
The post started off with Cinco happening to pass through a cart full of coconut fruit. At first, she thought no one was selling as no one was standing behind the cart. It was then that a man shuffling through some garbage on the other side of the road said “Ma’am saglit lang po ha?” (Ma’am, just wait a moment).
When the man got up after shuffling through the pile of garbage, Cinco saw that the man was smiling brightly as if he was able to find a diamond in the scraps. Cinco saw that the man cautiously re-attached the arm of a doll he managed to get from the garbage.
“May regalo na ko sa Anak ko sa pasko. Huhugasan ko lang po ‘yung mukha kasi medyo marumi.” (I already have a gift for my kid this Christmas. I will just clean the face of the doll as it looks quite dirty), the still unnamed man was beaming with happiness as he said this to Cinco.

The story is nothing short of an ordinary one but it sure effectively reminds everyone that Love need not be expensive. Love does not require money or belongings, it only needs to be genuine and true.
