One of the worst things that can probably happen to a person is when you happen to lose your wallet especially if the wallet contains not only your cash but also your identification cards and worse, your ATM or credit card. It will surely be a stressful experience as one has to report the loss of all your cards and to process a replacement it a slow process.
But, what will happen if your wallet was found after a significantly long time?
Larry Sloane, the owner of an old theater happens to do some renovations when his workers found something under the floorboards on the third floor. There, stuck in between the slats, was an old wallet. It was covered in dust but otherwise in good shape. But when they opened it up, there were items inside they didn’t recognize so they wondered as to how long has it been there.
Out of their curiosity and want to know who the owner of the wallet is, they tried to see what it contains. They found food ration stamps from WWII, an old boy scout card, faded photos and a pocket calendar dated 1944! They couldn’t believe that the wallet was already 71 years old, but now they just needed to figure out who the wallet belonged to.
A handwritten ID gave them all they needed to know. Handwritten on the card was the name “Clare MacIntosh”, with the contact phone number – a simple “8”.
To think that back in the days, Clare’s family could have been notified that the wallet is found by simply dialing “8” in the nearest payphone.
It’s amazing that Clare was still alive to be reunited again with his long lost wallet.
